Yizhou Settlement in Lingyichao | World Anvil

Yizhou

As seen in
Yizhou stands on the north-east shore of Dianchi. As one of the closest settlements to the closed area around Moliliexia - The Rift, it's a smaller settlement, with an average population of 5-10,000 permanent inhabitants. Buildings are mostly built of stone, rather than wood, despite the risk of earthquakes; there's too much risk from yaomoguiguai and Shenxian to settle for building in wood.   While not part of the Haonan Sect's territory, that sect's cultivators often patrol Yizhou in the hopes of rewarding night hunts. With them being so close to The Great Rift, there is a recognized need for the presence of cultivators.   Resources available in the area around Yizhou include copper, clay, and - most importantly - salt. (Specifically rock salt, as Dianchi is freshwater.) They also have many species of freshwater fish, including the Dianchi carp; the King's bullhead, the Dianchi bullhead, and the Kunming catfish, all species of catfish; the Yinbaiyu; and the Duolinbaiyu.

Government

Because Yizhou is fairly small, they have a representative town government - a town council whose members are from each of the guilds in the town, as well as an elected mayoral position. As part of Dian Province, they are under the rule of the governor of Dian Province.

Regional Importance

Despite the fact that Yizhou is a small town and has no sect in attached to it, it is considered to be one of the most important towns in Dian Province. This is due primarily to the abundance of natural resources (especially the salt and the clay), as well as the fact that its nearness to The Great Rift, while a source of continuing potential danger, also makes it an excellent training ground for junior cultivators and provides resources that are scarce in the eastern parts of Zhongguo.
