Before the Hunt
There had long been rumors about
fae stealing away children who would wander into the
Rockward Woods. When
Arika Yaskwol - the daughter of the then leader of the
Yaskwol Merchant House - went missing, her father paid a bunch of the local hunters to go find her. Several hunters refused to go into the woods believing they were cursed but thirty-seven were paid enough to ignore their fears.
One Man's Word
Not much is known about what happened in those
woods except from the words of
Riurin, the sole survivor of the hunt. According to his ramblings, the hunters saw something unusual and fired an arrow which killed it. They felt many eyes watching them as the investigated the dead creature. They grew tired and got some rest but after the woke many of the hunters were acting irrationally and many ran off or even turned on their fellow hunters.
