Songra Nor
"This is what happens to old lizardfolk. It is a sign of wisdom and of experience. To one's enemies it is a sign of weakness. To us, the clan, it is a sign that they will be leaving us. We must hear their stories and remember their names. Each member of the clan can take one of the fallen scales and add it to their takan ral."
Causes
The condition is simply old age. The age varies between Lizardfolk but happens to all who live long enough.
Symptoms
Songra nor translates as scale none or scaleless. As the name suggests one suffering from this condition has their scales fall off and not replaced. The frequency at which scales are lost varies by individual.
The condition only causes scale loss but this can have other ramifications. The skin beneath is sensitive to light and to touch. Skin lesions are common.
Treatment
The loss of scales has no known treatment. However there are some treatments for side effects. To prevent skin from burning and from lesions a balm made of herbs and fats is applied to the area and bound tightly with Archea bark.
Affected Groups
All lizardfolk of advanced age suffer from songra nor.
Prevention
No known medicine or action can prevent the onset of this condition.
History
Lizardfolk stories tell of this condition from time immemorial. Several of the lizardfolk heroes have suffered from this. Each clan has their own stories of great people with songra nor.
Cultural Reception
When a lizardfolk begins to suffer from this condition it is marked with a celebration. This is an uncommon event because most lizardfolk die before reaching old age. These individuals are then seen as wise and often become shamans and teachers.
