Skysickness Condition in Linebound | World Anvil

Skysickness

For those without their skylegs.

"I told you it would get him. You can tell that this one wasn't skyworthy. I wouldn't want to be in charge of him."   "You are in charge of him. Now."

Getting Your Skylegs

"I know someone, she had skysickness for an entire summer. The entire summer."   "She got over it."   "She never did. Quit after the summer. I wouldn't have made it that long."
There are many dangers to being aboard a (skyship), beasts, storms, and pirates are but a few. What most people don't expect is that their own bodies will do them in. While not deadly, skysickness can incapacitate someone for as long as they remain on the (ship).   The duration of the condition varies from person to person and doesn't affect everyone but it usually wears off after a few cycles. There have been a few people who never got over it but seasoned (skysailors) insist that they just gave up too soon.

The Portside Hurl

The most common symptom of skysickness is the inability to keep one's lunch down. While the sickness is not deadly, prolonged periods of vomiting can cause death. However, there are no recorded cases of this. Adjusting the diet is the best way to prevent this. Avoiding meats is preferable but not always easy given the typical rations aboard a (skyship).   Dizziness is the next most common reaction to skysickness. This is believed to be caused either by the motion of the (ship) or by the unusual winda that can be found among the skies.   In some cases people are affected by the sickness in a way that affects their head. Some become afraid of being on deck. They feel afraid of the open skies, they are vulnerable. In this case, experienced (skysailors) say that they may be new to the (ship) but are old to the sky because the experienced ones know that the skies are deadly and that feeling never goes away.
