Kaourdur

Secluded Trakaatan village.

"My home is fine, there is not much to say about it. My family has strong roots there."
— Forfar, Resident of Kaourdur

Birthplace of a Hero

People from places other than Kaourdur likely know it only for being the village where Kratam was born back in the Time of Heroes. The tales of the Five Great Heroes focus on Toranti and Kaztora while the other heroes origins are not explored.

Intentionally Isolated

The village of Kaourdur is located deep in the Black Mountains and the only way in - without an incredibly dangerous climb - is to pass through a long, narrow, and dark passageway. This makes it easy for the community to keep out any outsiders which they choose to do almost without exception.   People from the lonely village share very little specific information of their home. Whether this is to protect or just for the sake of creating mystery is unknown. Due to this, speculation is rampant about what the interior of the Black Mountains may be like. Do they live underground? Is there a lush valley among the peaks? Does it have lots of water? Is it a desert?

A Small Village

Unless the rumors are wildly incorrect, then one of the few known things about Kaourdur is that the population is very small. Estimates have it at under two hundred.   When Clan Trakaata calls their warriors, only ten arrive from Kaourdur. If each has parents, a sibling or two, and maybe some offspring, the estimate is between one and two hundred.
