Departing Gift
Lightening the Load
"Sister, it has been a long time. It is unfortunate that we have spent so long apart but now, my time is almost up. I am succumbing to illness and the doctor can do nothing. I have lived a good life and the time to move on to the next will soon be at hand. So please, help lighten the load so that Ceslovas will take me aboard his raft. Take anything you want from over there but I saved just for you this necklace, it belonged to our mother."
History
The tradition of departing gifts emerged with the introduction of Ceslovas into the beliefs of people in Zinato. Originally, only family would attend but when a person of high status had no family left to take away his possessions, he invited his friends. From there on it changed to eventually become a community event. It ensures that possessions are not wasted and that they are not given, as when only family would attend, to someone who would not use it.
Execution
When someone who believes in Ceslovas has the knowledge that they will pass away, they will give away their things so they will not be weighed down on their journey to reincarnation.
Participants
The dying is in charge of the ceremony to which the entire town is welcome to attend. Family is also allowed to attend, even if they live far from the dying.
