Bodysnatcher

Burying bodies to preserve tradition.

"Quickly, my son can only distract the soldiers for so long. They know you are in the village. The body of my mother, it is just over there. Take it quickly. And please, bury this with her to keep her spirit safe."

Perception

Purpose

The snatchers bury bodies in accordance with the traditional beliefs of their people.

Social Status

The people who want to bury their dead hold the bodysnatchers in high regard. It is these people who give food and water to the diggers, who shelter them, and who spare a coin.   The immigrated people see them as performing a dirty, lower, job that is illegal. While many people would sneer, only a few would go out of their way to report a digger.

History

Before people moved into the region from Central Grara, families and friends would bury their dead by themselves. However, after the rich iron veins were discovered in Cliffside, the leadership of the county has increased the enforcement of their laws in the region.   This shift in enforcement made burying dead illegal, a law from the more central parts of region where all space that could be dedicated to farms must be. Though much of this outer part of the region is not developed for farming, the law stands.

Operations

Tools

Shovels, carts, and bags are the tools of the snatchers. Now they use additional objects to hide bodies during transport.

Materials

Traditionally, a maranlily is planted over the body so seeds or seedlings are required regularily.
