Kraak-Tak's Carapace

Properties

Material Characteristics

It is very smooth. Plus, it also reflects a little bit of light.

Physical & Chemical Properties

This carapace is very rigid and resistant. This very protective exoskeleton allows a Kraak-Tak to live in places witht high pressure, like the deep sea caves in which these creatures dwell.

Compounds

This material is made almost entirely of chitin (in a high density), the same protein that composes human's nails.

Origin & Source

This carapace can be obtained from Kraak-Taks. However, differently than sheeps, they need to be killed for harvesting.

Life & Expiration

This carapaces takes a long period of time to deteriorate (around 1.000 years).

History & Usage

Everyday use

This carapace material can be used to craft lighter than regular metal armors. It is also more resistant. Therefore, many smiths are willing to pay a hefty price to get their hands in this material.

Manufacturing & Products

+1 armor with 1/10 of the weight can be crafted using this carapace.

Environmental Impact

The carapaces must be retrieved from a living Kraak-Tak (this process painfully kills the creature, if it's not dead yet). Therefore, gathering this material diminishes Kraak-Tak's population worldwide.

Distribution

Trade & Market

A crew of the Rusty Shivs is currently capturing Kraak-Taks around Lirium's Trade Post, harvesting their carapace and selling them in the Post.
