The Blutwald

The wild and untameable expanse of the Blutwald fills the majority of the land considered to be within the realm of Sinndarim. It forms the bulk of the border between Korbal and the Elven Kingdom of Nyssai. In recent centuries it's intense growth has provided a powerful deterrent for both sides. That same growth is believed to be the result of the preceding wars between the countries, when both sides would send their forces to wage war between the trees of what was then simply known as the Westerwald. The fighting was always bloody and, regardless of the numbers, neither force would ever gain enough ground to reach the other side of the forest. It was said that the trees were watered with blood as often as rain and the earth beneath the soldiers feet was always sodden with spilled blood.
The Orcish clans who called the Westerwald home were a large part of why neither country could ever gain much ground and they refused to parley with either side until a warrior from Korbal known by his comrades as the Lord of Blood sought out each of their greatest warriors in turn and bested them in single combat.
