Secheil, Sanguisar's End

'We stride across centuries and death follows in our wake, for we are Aseth's Hundred.' - Alrai, Secheil's wielder

Appearance

The sword resembles a nodachi katana with a black blade. It curves gently down, ending in a small guard over the hand. The guard holds two emeralds, framed on either side that act as the eyes of the coiled snake carved to form the handle, its scales a dizzying array of gold and arcunum (a silvery looking metal). The blade protrudes from the mouth of the snake and when its sheathed it looks more akin to a dragon breathing fire, thanks to the artwork intricately carved into the scabbared.

History

Crafted during the Light's Crusade, by artisans whose craft is all but forgotten, the blade saw action throughout the thousands of years that followed in the hands of Alrai, one of Aseth's Hundred. It was named by him after a creature that trod his homeworld and resembled a wyvern. Thoughout it's service it earned the name 'Sanguisar's End' from the Hundred for its deeds in slaying three Sanguisar's in one battle. These vile twisted creatures were incredibly powerful and the right arm of the Nightmare, created from the darkness of its own will.

For millenia Alrai fought with Secheil until the battle of HeRi where the Nightmare's Titan's Primarch, Sanneth obliterated the system as his armies fell and defeat grew closer. This killed Alrai and many of the Hundred until the acts of Aseth during the Re-Forging.

Re-forging

Many of the Hundred died within the battle of the HeiRi System. Aseth, enraged by the dishonourable acts of Sanneth in his final moments spent his time hunting down the lost souls of his champions, strong in death as they had been in life and collecting what he could of their weapons. He took each to Kargaron, The Crafter, one of the few survivors of HeiRi and bequeathed him to remake his champions, casting their souls to their weapons so they may again walk the world and continue the battle.

The task was long, but eventually Secheil and Alrai were collected and bonded for eternity at Kargaron's Star forge in the year 5623L.C, their blade imbued with magic of incredible proportions and a forever bond to Aseth.

Post - Reforging

After the Re-forging, Aseth sent the blade to the world of Tulin, determined to have an agent upon each Anchor World, certain their agent would act in the interests of The Radiant. The blade was picked up by an assortment of Lords, until it found its way to Melina. It was present during the Fall of that cursed city and was left there until picked up by a scavenger named James (See events in Life's Heart for more details).

Powers

The spirit of its original wielder, Alrai, Sanguisar's End, is bound to the blade and should any wield it, he will appear, provided it has collected enough power from the souls of the dead to function. In this state he can move and interact as a creature of flesh and blood, though should he be slain his spirit would return to the blade once more. While in this humanoid state, he can wield the death magic he once controlled in life, though it will burn the energy from the blade, shortening his time in this state.

Once taken, the blade bonds to the wielder, should they show potential, and all attempts to abandon or detach themselves from it will result in Alrai bringing the blade back. While in this solid state the blade can appear twice, meaning Alrai's appirition would wield one and whoever has bonded to the blade would hold an identical sword.

Aseth's Hundred

The Chosen of Aseth, were the greatest warriors within 'The Light's Crusade'. Chosen for their deeds, heroics, battle-prowess and honour, each of their members carved their name into legend. Each of the Hundred practised their unique style and fought with different weapons, and were as varied as the stars in the sky. They were chosen from any species or planet and many rivalled the strength of lesser Titan's at their peak. They utilized a unique magic, passed on from Aseth, that captured energy from the death of others to augment themselves and their environments. Upon their deaths Aseth captured their souls and forged them into their weapons, so when the time came, they could be summoned to fight once more through others.

Aseth

The Titan of Battle was one of the most formidable amongst the ranks of 'The Radiant'. His prowess in battle unmatched, and his acts legendary. So great were his conflicts and those of his Hundred that his name soon became synonymous with death. Following the battle of the HeRi system, he took it upon his himself to shepard and protect the souls of the dead across Grey-Space, knowing the strength their spirits could provide to one who might use it for darkness. He now resides within his realm, shaped with his power, to protect others from the predations of Sanguisar, and patrolled by the spirits of those hundred whose weapons yet remain unclaimed.
