Madeline's muscle, maybe even a lover. Powerful by human standards and useful for cutting through problems.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Julian is fairly tall and broad. In many respects, he's decently muscular eye candy for Madeline. She reminds him of what a working man was in her day. Someone big and strong, ruggedly good looking. He dresses simply, plain button up shirts most of the time, business slacks. He's able to blend into the background around the vampires, emerge when needed. Like Madeline, he's often able to simply go unnoticed. The vampires know he is not one of them and often overlook him until it's too late.

Special abilities

His power is complicated. He seems to be able to impart tremendous amounts of energy into metal objects, but also to be able to rapidly accelerate any of his limbs. The limb acceleration may be using the iron in his blood, but there's been no confirmation. He's able to reach sufficient speeds to sucker punch a vampire. His main means of fighting is with throwing knives. He carries dozens of them, mostly thin blades, no handle. They're as good as bullets in his hands. He's able to use basically anything metal to kill.
Like all humans, he is weak to bullets, poisons, and so on. His power may kill him if he accelerates his own limbs too rapidly. He has previously broken wrists, a thigh bone, dislocated his shoulder, in the heat of a fight, from having accelerated himself too rapidly. As a result, he much prefers his knives.

Personal history

Julian doesn't know his past. He doesn't know his parents. Doesn't know where he came from. His first actual memories are of Madeline. She seemingly rescued him when he was in his late teens. He was on the street and thought he was about to die. Some thugs were getting ready to drive a knife right through his chest. He doesn't even remember why. Then, she showed up. It was incredible, terrifying. Madeline seemed so small, how could she fight off these thugs? In the panic of the moment, he really couldn't think of anything to explain it. He bled enough to pass out.
Over the days and weeks to follow, Madeline cared for him, nursed him back to health. He soon grew to be obsessed with her, protective of her. She called it cute. It only took a few weeks for her to tell him what she was. If something were to harm her, as a human, he would be damn near helpless against it, BUT, perhaps not always. She felt something strange in him, something special. Vampires can sense what's happening in someone, medically. In this rare case, she detected that he was going to manifest a power. It was still happening, she caught it as the change was beginning.

This was only good news for Madeline. She soon had Julian essentially as her personal guards, confident, friend, and perhaps more. Originally she had only hoped to have some companionship and maybe a guy around to keep watch for her during the day. A man who could help her cut through some mysogny in her work. Now? She had so much more than that.

Education

Julian is generally believed to be uneducated. There are no records of him having a high school diploma. Of course, there are no records of a Julian existing, period. It appears his identity was replaced at some point. It is possible that he graduated high school, or even college, but that such memories have been blocked out. He is moderately intelligent and has been picking up a great deal from his years around Madeline. He could eventually make one hell of a negotiator or mob boss.

Employment

There is no formal employment for Julian. He is paid by Madeline, though there are no contracts or set terms. He protects her, she takes care of him. It does not appear that he has any concerns for food or money at this time.
