Burning Lands Tribe

A budding new tribe currently of all natives sharing the wendigo race genome regardless of parent tribe. It is taking steps to include all wendigo regardless of native blood.

For generations, the wendigo race had been reduced gradually over time by the elements of civilization around them. Pushed out into the shrinking forests and unclaimed land, and divided by the werewolf packs that either hemmed them in or split territories further, numbers were on a sharp decline with nearly all memory of their past and culture lost to time. Nothing was written, only passed down by word of mouth and teaching from parent to child. Only the very small core parts of their race remained common knowledge. In order to preserve what they have left and recover their culture, wendigo have come from across the mainland part of the States to pool their knowledge and their numbers under one banner. It didn't come to existence by purely altruistic intentions, but it is blossoming into a very pure motived action.

Structure

As far as structure goes, there is one main leader of groups known as clans with their own respective leaders. As more join ranks, larger groups may split to begin a separate new clan. Clans may choose to elect a leader, or fight for the position, but all still fall under command of the head of the tribe known as the Great Stag.   Currently clans restrict themselves to around ten members only. This is due to the temperament of the wendigos themselves, finding having too many differing opinions so close all the time is just impossible to bear. Almost all have lived a continual solitary life, and too many around so suddenly causes stress as well as high tempers. Maybe the clans one day will grow in member numbers, but for now they are limiting themselves so everyone can handle the shift to a more communal lifestyle.

Culture

The wendigo nation is a cautious, mistrustful and misanthropic kind at the moment. They avoid giving allegiance as well as offerings from others at the moment, focusing more on building themselves up.   For now, the tribe is adapting and filling gaps as they seem fit. Mostly overall focused on violence and gore, this shows in the new terms and actions they take.

Clans

Due to being overall distrusting and solitary, the tribe of over fifty members has split into five clans, fracturing their numbers for ease of safety and command, as well as comfort for those involved. It seems wendigo are warming up to the idea of being around others, but there is a low tolerance limit still. Each group is lead by one main wendigo, that may decide to accept or decline members as well as the group name if they wish to change it. Leaders of these clans, "fracción" as Alex called them due to the small numbers currently, can hold their position through majority vote, or fighting through a Rite of Combat. In the end, the Great Stag has the last say. The current groups are as follows:   Golden Hind - Current leader of the first group is John Seolfor. He was voted to head position due to his level headedness and diligence for keeping others hidden. Named after a pirate ship. His clan is made of families, notably those with younger children in them.   Bloody Fang - Current leader of the second group is Elizabeth Churchill. She was awarded the position through physical feats and a combination of voting as well through her tireless efforts to hunt, distribute food evenly, and break up fights. She is a foil to Raivo and his group of violent stags. It's also Gnaw's harsh contrast, consisting of only female wendigo.   Gnaw - Current leader of the third group is Kirsten Harries. Kirsten won the position by defeating Raivo within seconds of their challenge in order to control the more caustic and violent group of males that made Gnaw. Her position has softened the group's outlook, gathering more members that are fit and know combat. All of the members under Kirsten are male. They are first to act for military and protective roles.   Solar Stag - Due to increasing numbers and a majority of them being in Golden Hind, the clan split with the elder Nukpana being voted in instantly as its leader. A majority of those in Solar Stag are younger couples looking for guidance from someone far from their age. Due to this, Maria Winship is also a member. It is now the largest clan and expected to grow larger at least by one within the next thirty or so weeks.   Night Hunters: Made by Ebony Louise splitting from the clans to remain solitary within the tribe, others followed suit. The Night Hunters are noticeably made up of the most solitary wendigos in the clans, opting to be more nocturnal and removed from other activities. Because of this they have become the defacto night watchers, scouting for trouble while the others sleep, and going on far off hunts to bring in food. The Night Hunters are exceptional fighters on their own.

Public Agenda

To organize and reunite the wendigo race to stop the erasure of their culture.

History

Only started recently, and with a handful of members, the Burning Lands tribe faced an uphill battle with many of its residents not only lacking personal identification, but also forms to show family lineage or their own existance. This only is added onto by them being a large concern of Rand's due to being supernatural, and his hatred of all things not naturally human. Almost instantly the little band of just over a dozen wendigo had to exile themselves to Valley Forge park.   Over three more days, they grew in numbers slowly as Alex Winship discussed ways to, and finally had a rather stale,  tense meeting with his brother over finding land for them, and a way to make them officially a tribe in hopes of protection from Rand and his control of the old Rush Compound.   It's taking help from the wolfpack to forge documentation to get to the next step.

Demography and Population

The current members all live in the same location currently, with fifty six known members.

Territories

South of Aristes and north of Ashland lies the old city of Centralia. Owned by the state, Centralia was given to the Burning Lands tribe as an act of the Land Back political movement in which lands taken from natives is returned to their jurisdiction. Given that the fires still burn under the land in long lost coal mines, it looks like a hollow gift of ancestral lands until the tribe is taken into account of what it consists of. While most of Centralia is but a paved road, and a few still standing structures in terms of 'city', the land itself has regrown lots of forest and grassland. So while the town of Centralia seems like all they were given, the territory spans wider into the wilds to better shelter, feed and buffer humans and those outside the tribe from those within. Realistically the territory skirts that of Ashland and Aristes, going east and west as well to scoop up old abandoned quarries, several ponds and creeks, and the effected old coal mines.

Technological Level

Primitive.

Religion

The Wendigo Nation is a melting pot of different religions, including a total lack of one via some atheist members. None seem to be devout to any main religion.
