A transcript from the personal logs of Commodore Earl Rammage.Formed of the remnants of the Conglom post-The Flag War, the Conglomerate of Gaia is a collection of multinational corporations, who took control of Oceania, parts of Asia, North America & Europe. Intensely humanocentric, the Conglom's mission remains the toppling of the Mater Machine and return of all advanced technology on planet Earth to human hands and human authority. About damn time. While I remember life before Lieben's mad dash to monarchical power, I grew up in the Conglomerate's hold. Don't regret it, life was awesome. What kid would regret the latest toys, VR experiences in VR Dens, school trips around the world?
All of it stopped when Lieben took over. Why? Because we didn't like Lieben having the ability to watch. Nor did we have the ability to weather the sudden economic shift of formerly profit earning enterprises like health care and education being free.
Before 2045, the component companies of the eventual Conglom were world leaders in engineering, body care, agriculture, mining, space tech & infrastructure development. When the CEO's came together in secret meetings through the early 2040's they created a plan to join together for mutual interest & take the world in a new direction.
Demography & Population
A combination of all demographics, population bases, ethnicities and sexual preferences, the Conglomerate's only necessity for entry is whether a being belongs to Homo Sapiens and is willing to sign a contract of behaviour and expectations.
Birth rates are kept to an artificially controlled 15 births per 1,000 population by the instigation of a Reproduction Voucher system granting permission to reproduce. Without a Voucher, members of the Conglomerate receive harsh penalties until they work off the debt, or choose to put the embryo into Cryostasis until the appropriate funds for the Voucher can be brought forth. Purchase of a Reproduction Voucher ensures a base level of childcare investment for the infant's future development, ensures the delivery of birth, infancy and toddler care kits and the funding of an educational credit.
Death rates fluctuate around 11.4 - 12.1 deaths per 1,000 population due to medical care and age.
