Kuvris

Kuvris is the central figure of the Looshi belief system, which is practiced exclusively by the Groline people of Scion 9. He is not merely a distant, mythical figure but an active and present deity who is said to have interacted directly with the Groline and shaped their world. Kuvris is as ancient as Scion 9 itself, and he is believed to be as much a part of the planet as the seas that cover it.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Endless Spiral:

The primary symbol associated with Kuvris is the Endless Spiral, representing the eternal flow of the oceans and the continuous cycle of life, death, and rebirth. This spiral is often carved into Groline dwellings or worn as a talisman by Groline mystics. It is also used to mark sacred sites where Kuvris is said to have appeared.

The Twin Lights:

In many Groline tales, Kuvris’ eyes, described as glowing orbs deep within the ocean, are referred to as the Twin Lights. They symbolize his eternal watch over the seas and are often seen as a protective sign when Groline encounter them in the depths.

The Great Wave:

Another symbol associated with Kuvris is the Great Wave, representing his immense power over the ocean. This symbol is used sparingly and often only in sacred rituals, as it represents the raw, untamable force of nature that Kuvris can unleash if the seas are threatened.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Eternal and Unfathomable:

Kuvris is ancient, and his mind and motives are as deep and complex as the oceans of Scion 9. To the Groline, he is not a deity who rules from above but one who exists in harmony with the waters, eternal and unfathomable. His ways are mysterious, and while the Groline do not worship him in a traditional sense, they revere him as the creator and protector of their world.

Fatherly and Protective:

Kuvris is considered the father of the Groline people. His creation of them was not from necessity but from loneliness, wanting to fill the seas with life. He is often depicted as a patient and protective figure, watching over the Groline as his children. However, he does not interfere heavily in their lives, preferring to let them grow and evolve on their own.

Indifferent to Non-Groline:

Kuvris has little interest in the other races of the Librea Cloud. To him, the land-dwellers are distant and insignificant compared to the vast expanse of the oceans. He is said to occasionally stir the seas in anger when non-Groline threaten his waters, but he cannot manifest outside of Scion 9.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Form: Kuvris is rarely depicted in a humanoid shape, as the Groline believe he embodies the very waters of Scion 9. When visualized, he is typically shown as an ever-shifting, vast mass of seawater, glowing faintly from within with magical energy. His "body" is fluid, formless, and constantly moving, like the tides. Manifestations: When Kuvris chooses to interact with the Groline or other beings, he can manifest as a massive, whale-like creature of pure water, with tentacles over his face and belly. His form is often depicted with swirling waves, whirlpools, or storms accompanying his presence. Eyes: In Groline legends, Kuvris’ eyes are often described as glowing orbs deep within the water—two points of intense light that represent his wisdom and eternal watch over the Groline. These eyes can appear anywhere in the seas, glowing from within the depths. Voice: Kuvris’ voice is said to be the sound of the ocean itself—deep, rumbling, and almost impossible to discern for those who are not Groline. It is often described as a series of low, gurgling rumbles and crashing waves.
