The Stationer Problem

There exists in the written world a problem. Old parchment is dying, and the new romance of the masses is stripping resources away from the preservation of the past. Or so the archivists would tell you. There exists a recording, caught on the Br1n Network, between academics in Natare and archivists from the Saburra Desert Archive in which they discuss what could happen should the archive fall behind in their restoration efforts.

This recording has been passed around the more progressive Binding Circlets, the discussion between progress and history found even here, as those on opposite sides try to find common ground despite the lack of resources.

Publication Status

The recording, while private, was leaked to Radio Luna from the Br1n Network. While initially considered inflammatory, those in and around the network considered the future conflict neccessary to get some progress away from the stagnation of inaction.

Public Reaction

Public reaction on both sides tends towards petitions for more stationers and binding presses. If asked - those unconnected to either faction ask why cannot a solution be to produce both, though Bindings and Boundings at the time was running at an exhausting pace, producing both the latest craze and the intricacies of the texts needing restoration or reprint.

Legacy

In the following years it was the romance lovers, under the pressure of the Academy of Natare historians that helped find, train and construct a new binding press in Saburra, the historians distinctly aware that the loss of data by the mages could have them enact measures and tensions upon those from Natare's lower city in reaction to the loss of progress.

Historians remarked to Binding Circlets that would listen that this was similar to tensions seen in early Solaris when they formed their own academies, and that the disaster of that era between mage and non-mage was not something history would want to repeat.

Resources were pulled and several delegations made their way through Levis to appease the archivists
