Guild of Sigils and Designs

Mission Statement.

When the council of Natare needs a design for a new symbol for their upcoming celebration - the guild is there. When a secret party needs an invitation designed incorporating a spider, the guild is there too. When the Sky Terrace was opened, all the personalised lettering on the banquet table was designed by the best artists and typographers in the guild.

The guild was even there when the spell enscribing text into bindings itself was enacted, setting the symbols and circuitry that cast the flavours of the words themselves.

Above all other designs comes the seals and sigils. These designs mark a place or organisation or even a well known person, and are the things the guild are most proud of, so much so that their artisans are known as seal-makers.

Physical seals.

In many physical messages, a waxlike seal is made. A clear compound is coated across the stamp which is made from a heat resistant plant seed that is coaxed with water and pressure into the shape needed to press into beeswax or calago bug wax that has been treated with dyes and stiffening agents.

Structure

The guild is a set of independent contractors who elect a Seal-maker as arbitration and quality control, who resides in the role for a duration of a year. Records of the seals are kept in a set of bindings kept in Gracetown, resided over by the secretary of the Guild.

Culture

Approved seals recieve a maker's mark, which is a special marking of the guild, containing an identifier of the seal-maker and something that identifies the quality assurer.

The Lady of Refreshing Gale is the premier sigil maker out of Natare, responsible for the redesign of the Natare city logo and those of the Academy when the most recent splurge in markings and businesses came to the fore. Her sigils can now be found on many a business binding, modern map, or official communication. The Lady is enigmatic in her presentation, preferring to communicate through a salit with a flower collar or messages in the Br1n network. Her own sigil is a stylised face with tinted reading goggles.
