Elementalkin {Genasi}
Description
Genasi or Elementalkin are highly uncommon in Levantis. So much so that many people never even see a single one in their lives. Technically speaking, they are not even a race, but rather a heritage that can be found among many different races. Some can even still pass for one of their mortal kind as they often retain some features of their mortal parent, for example pointy ears for an elf, or a stocky frame and magnificent beard for a dwarf. However as a rule, their elemental heritage is always somewhat evident in a few physical traits. While they can technically be born from the union of a mortal and a resident of the Elemental Planes visiting the Prime Plane, this is exceedingly rare and more often are they born as the result of significant elemental influence during their birth. A child born during a monsoon may become a water genasi for example, while a child born in a region known for rockslides may become an earth genasi. Still, these cases are rare and thus genasi are rare. Being more spread out and often rather individualistic, there are no known genasi communities and they have no unified culture. In fact, their characteristics and how they are treated can vary wildly between regions.In Middenland
Genasi are a curious sight of course, but the reaction they may receive in Middenland varies vastly between the different duchies. The central and northern duchies that are more rural tend to have a cultural aspect of normalcy to them where standing out can lead to negative reactions, and in these places genasi may be better off keeping their head down and not drawing too much attention to themselves. This is quite different in the southern duchies. It is hard to say whether this is as a result of their interactions with the Sulvari, or the empowered economy and thus increased technological advancement shaping a different society. Whatever the case, here the genasi can hold their heads high and are looked upon more with curiosity rather than disapproval. Water and air genasi are especially common in the port towns, as they are naturally adept weather controllers that are useful to any trade fleet.In the Cadena Archipelago
The Gulf of Gaspari experiences extremely destructive storms during the early days of summer, and this is when most genasi of the region are born. These are mostly air or water genasi, while fire and earth genasi are much rarer in these parts. Their distinctive appearance is especially cherished by the Sulvari who inhabit the Cadena Archipelago, who often call them 'Belmento' as well, meaning 'beautiful element'. While others have to go through some effort to manage such a flamboyant and distinctive look, the genasi have this naturally. They consider the elementalkin to be blessed by the Gods, to be born with such a unique appearance matched by unique power. A genasi child is celebrated and cherished in this regions, even envied to some extent.In Sabara
The increased worship and influence of the elemental forces and Elemental Princes means that elementalkin are far more common in Sabara than pretty much anywhere else. Fire genasi in particular are quite common, perhaps due to the significant influence of Efreeti and Phoenices within the region. The Khuagawa Tetrarchy takes an unique interest in the power of the genasi. Due to a legend of a past genasi warrior, they are considered a representation of strength and in some cases even divine messengers of Alessar. They are generally press-ganged into joining a particular military sub-section specific to them from a young age. Here they are trained with the guidance of several Nefer-Senkhi and sometimes even under direct supervision from the local Uba-Toki (landholder). Once their training is complete they become part of a group of elite warriors called 'Gensuhari', often assigned to protecting important individuals or taking care of sensitive assignments.Basic Information
