Session #79 63 - "What's behind door number 2" Report

General Summary

Selena reported that the 5th level - Portals of Water, have someone or soemthing moving around. The smell was like a "bloated corpse" so that suggests some sort of undead creature of sorts, maybe?

Notes

Here is a summary regarding all the weird things and abilities that the Emerald Explorers encountered during this session. This will include the discrepancies that they discovered between the Lore, Research and the actual events.

(This is mainly Otto's conjecture)

The Shadow Flame elementals seem to be some sort of new creation, an undead, not living maybe, elemental creature.
They feed of the element Fire, and grow stronger from it. They also burn when coming into contact with living matter.
The coldness they radiate at the same time is not the absence of warmth, but rather the lifeforce being sucked from your body, need to consult someone that knows more regarding Religion, Undead and Clerical magic.

The unstable and mind-altering environments so far on this level (Level 11 - Don't open Dead Inside) seem to be from an unknown origin and unlike anything we have encountered before. The lore recovered and consolidated from various sources regarding the imprisonment of Yarrix seems to be based on a false assumption that this tomb was designed by the follower of Saeranrae and not the actual lair of Yarrix. Furthermore it seems illogical that Yarrix was indeed a follower of Lamasthu as previously thought, or at least not the most common worshipped avatar of "the mother of monsters" but all of this are better answered by clerical scholars and in further research.

The creatures that we have encountered, serving as potential guardians do not align themselves with something that a champion of Sarenrae would employ to guard a most sacred tomb. They are more inline with nightmare monsters from the Darklands, perhaps.

The entire architecture encountered so far speaks of highly advanced crafts and magic, it seems like all the surfaces on this level serves as an additional obstacle or trap making it difficult to focus and notice things hiding in plain sight.
