Triume

This trio of leaders is responsible for guiding organizations. Most Federacy style organizations of more than a dozen persons have a relatively flat structure of one to three levels of leadership. At the top of the organization, traditionally, are the Triume (pronounced Try-yhum; individual members are Trium), who are responsible for the health and well being of the organization and the stewardship of its resources. One member of the Triume typically oversees administrative affairs, another logistics, and the last is a specialist whose area of oversight varies according to the purpose of the organization. For example, a shipping organization's third Trium might be Clientele Activity.
Triumes make considrable use of ComSpace, their PERSONA almost always being of the Enhanced variety, capable of processing incredible data.

Qualifications

All trium members are at least skilled in Administration and one other skill relating to their Field of Responsibility. All must also have some skill in one or more of the organization's primary operating skills.

Appointment

Most trium members are suggested by a pool of candidates from other organizations which specialize in finding steward-leaders for other orgs (Headhunter Orgs). The ultimate choice is based upon the internal protocols of the organization.

Duties

Morally and (under Federacy policy), triumes are legally and ethically responsible for their organization. In contrast to (or perhaps due to the backlash from) the ancient concept of corporations, any person operating in a position of authority must take on the ethical and moral responsibility for actions resulting from their decisions (Historically, persons have used their positions of authority to avoid indivdiual culpability which have emboldened them to make essentially reckless choices).

Responsibilities

The Triume is responsible for management and leadership tasks for their organization and stewardship of all resources entrusted to it. In smaller organizations, where such things are significantly automated, the Triume is also expected to take on various roles in the organization as well.
By training, each member of a Triume is designed to handle a Team (which they may or may not be a direct functional member of, depending on the need, size and function of the Team).

Triume members often have access to Enhanced PERSONA systems to allow for control of robotic equipment.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Removal or dismissal from the role of triume varies according to the charter and guidelines of the organization. Some Triumes are encouraged to work together very closely to increase security, for example. Like most roles in the Federacy, these functions tend to be more of Life Path choices than ephemeral vocation choices. Thus trium will rarely find themselves removed or dismissed from a position for less than legal reasons - again this may vary according to organization. 
However, as Triumes are legally responsible for the resources and personnel they steward, infractions and prosecution can (and has) occurred directly against one or more members of a Trium. Given the significant and sophisticated nature of Triume interdependency, rarely is "I didn't know" a reasonable defense - and entire Triumes have gone down together rendering a team non-functional until a new Triume can be put in place. In such rather rare cases, a Regent Steward is appointed until a new Triume can be bought online.

History

The principle of a triumvirate - three governing persons who are (technically) co-equal is old and saw revival in the Federacy's Sapient-centric policy and mind set which. History shows that singular persons at the apex of a position of authority jeopardized the ability to failsafe the moral components of the institution. Any governing system should serve those governed, but if the position became more important than the governed, integrity failed and corruption resulted. Having too many people was almost as bad as not having enough. 
The key to appropriate numbers was appropriate information gathering abilities, thus the modern Triume is armed with a fantastic array of data resources at their disposal, but also with a great deal of transparency (as compared to Earth pre-interstellar governments).

The presiding top-tier Triume which is the administrative lead of an organization which that has more than two Triumes functioning, making for a rather sizable organization, is called the Presidio. The other Triumes of these organizations are sometimes called Cohorts. 

When referring to the top ranking tier in the Federacy, the proper rank for this Triume is Presidium. The Triumes directly supporting them are called Cohorts of the Regional Magistrate.
