Omerant Lightsinger

Venerated as a Guide by those of the Order of Lumi, Omerant Lightsinger is credited with safely teaching the path of the Aurin / Bridgehead Nebula. He is said to have left Omerant's Lightsong aboard The Lighthouse  Journeying from home around the Alsakan Rift is a very long journey - and impossible for ships under T3. One exploration cruiser which is now called The Lighthouse had an experimental T3 drive and had made the incredibly long journey around the rift and was wending it way up the Neeti sector when it misjumped and was effectively stranded around an uncharted star. Though within range of the Aurin nebula, it was considered near suicide because of previous reports from the one ship that had made it back from there to date. While resting, the Xenonavigator had a dream that Lumi had appeared to him and showed him a darkened object in the same system they were in and was told that it was a ship. If he were to board the ship and figure out how to interface with the system, they would be saved. He reluctantly told the Presidio and they boarded the relic, a ship unlike any they’d ever seen before. It looked like it had been in a battle and mostly gutted, but they were able to recover the ships navigation system and with what they learned of the ships engine, they were able to fine tune their own as well. Their next jump took them to the Aurin Nebula where the Xenonavigator had another dream of how to use the navigation system’s harmonics to reduce the impact of the star’s screaming and allow them to successfully explore and traverse the area. The system beyond that was the Omerant system, named in honor of the Xenonavigator who was able to help create the Omerant Variation allowing for safer travel near nebulas and a way to more safely traverse the Aurin nebula.   Omerant believed that Lumi had sent an angel - Lightbringer - to show him the way, and he taught quite a few people about Lumi and His ways. Statistically, it is known that vessels travelling with an adherent of Lumi aboard tend to suffer far less navigation issues than those which don’t. Though it’s not Federacy policy, there are a significant number of Lumi’s Journeymen amongs the Xenonavigators Guild.   After many years of faithful service, especially devoting times to listening to the starsongs of the Aurin nebula (and developing an entire musical genre based on the same), Omerant was granted a small specially outfitted one man scouting vessel and headed out on his own. He left the “keys” to operating the Lighthouse, and it has performed guidance service between Omerant and Beach
