LoE 2.3.1: My Mind to Your Mind

LoE 2.3: Moons and Minds of Minos

Team heads out onboard the Alpha, having to switch the hacked psi booster back to it’s normal function of an interstellar navigation device. Of course, in the process, they managed to release a QT particle bombardment on the whole ship. In the process, what we know of what happened sorta looks like this: Nora’s telepathic abilities got amped, Taylor’s cyberdeck went through some sort of catalyzation where it may now be sentient.   As they near their destination, the cyberdeck attempts to contact Taylor, who ignores it, and it finally gets Nora’s attention. It lets her know that Taylor’s ignoring it; after Nora gets in touch with it, she finds out that it covered their tracks as they left Minos base - they did release the equivalent of a psi bomb. She has trouble believing that the things may now be sentient, but she decides to go along with the “hallucination.”   Thanks to the fact that they can travel FTL in system, unlike their foes, they arrive at the “Moon” ahead of the kidnappers and then use their considerable abilities to locate the cloaked Moon, an asteroid that is roughly 30 kilometers across and is cloaked by a device that shields an area roughly 100 km in diameter. It’s located 1.5 million km from Minos.   They re-hack the nav device into booster mode, and Nora is able to easily talk to Kestra. They learn that only 6 people are on board, but that she doesn’t know much else except they seem to be professionals, despite their non-matching civilian wear. Nora then turns her now greatly expanded abilities to scan for persons on the “Moon” and finds there are a dozen of them. 9 humans, 2 goblins, 1 troll. Taylor enhances her attack bot and places some pretty potent sleep gas in there and they stealth the device to the “Moon” and disable the people there. It was “relatively” easy because the base is defended well against being found.

Meta Note

This was quite the session! On top of spending considerable time enjoying ourselves talking about IRL stuff, some incredible gaffs were rolled the the characters decided to take up instead of spending the Fate Points to get out of the situation (one was a roll of -4) while switching the FTL Nav system back from Psi Amp. It was decided that their reinstating the system was successful but everyone got hit with a crazy dose of QT Particles - see the MindTek section in Technology Overview. They were "rewarded" with a Minor Milestone right there, with the intent of allowing them to be more active with special powers, if they wanted.   Of course, this legit opens the door for all sorts of interesting, challenging things to happen, but it's sorta important that it be traceable back to This Day in History, LOL.
