Terror in Tanistan (D&D 5e)

The barony of Tanistan is located in the southern region of Erlkazar and encompasses the Plains of Pehrrifaal, named after a local warrior. It is bordered by the Omlarandin Mountains on the west, the Kuldin Peaks on the north, and the High Peaks of the Cloven Mountains on the east. It shares borders with three other baronies: Carrelath, Shalanar, and Ahlarkhem. In the past, Saestra Karanok of Ahlarkhem ruled as queen over all of Erlkazar. Many suspected her of being a vampire. She lost power when Erlkazar split into four baronies.   The barony of Tanistan is ruled by Baron Henrik Rennet. Under his leadership, vampires and bandits who visit Tanistan from nearby areas have had a habit of disappearing. Other baronies that have tried to extend their influence into Tanistan have likewise had people disappear.   The average lives of Erlkazar’s citizens have not changed much over the past century. Most of them are simple hill folk who live in small, isolated hamlets and villages. They pay token fealty to whichever “baron” rules their land, and largely try to ignore what happens elsewhere. Most villagers in Erlkazar try to appear content, don't like to talk about the troubles affecting Erlkazar, partially because of superstition, partially because they don't know who might be listening, and partially because they are not always entirely sure what is happening.
