Steppa Nezr

A large area of boggy heathland to the south-west of Paracannia, the area known as Steppa Nezr is sparsely inhabited and unsuitable for any significant amount of agriculture. In ancient times it was the site of a number of quarries, with stone from the area being used in the construction of Kato Kambos and a number of settlements in the Katari Empire; over the centuries these quarroies have gradually been abandoned and left to go to ruin, with the remnants of the handful of villages that once served them dotting the moorland in various states of abandonment and disrepair.
The Claws of Nerazh are said to have dwelled on Steppa Nezr after the Fall of the Katari Empire, until they were forced to abandon their moorland home due to some catastrophe in the 9th century AK; some speak of a great black dragon having descended upon the moorland and driven them from their home, but if such a creature still dwells upon Steppa Nezr, it has not been seen in centuries
