Daelshenji

The Daelshenji are the Allusv (Rift Elves) that reawoke upon the surface of their homeworld Jeshun. Shortly after their reawakening they traveled into what would later be understood to be a super volcano. Within the center was a pre-existing outpost. They established their first civilization there. Over the centuries they were able to restore some of the outpost's systems. They thrived creating five major cities around the outpost. During the time the Reshaluna was able to make it to the planet a malfunction occurred that caused the dormant super volcano to become active. The Reshan (Allusv) were able to deliver the Daelsheji people aboard their ship and save them. Since the Reshan had already instituted a caste system the Daelshenji leadership pledged themselves and their people to become the seeker explorer caste.   The Daelshenji have a natural aversion to staying in one place to long. Seen as restless and impatient, though some who know their history wonder if this is due to their planet having been destroyed. They are truly nomadic. Always going. Always seeking. Desiring to be the first to see a world no other has seen. To touch what others have only dreamed of. They live to see what lies just beyond sight. They hear the call of an ever unfolding universe and they are desperate to heed its voice.   The Daelshenji act as the eyes and ears for the Allusv Fleet. They make up the majority of the Jorazia Institute . They are considered to be shrewd and capable. They have a developed sense of how to use and reuse materials and salvaged parts. They also act as cargo transporters who work in tandem with the Afal Ku'nul merchant caste. They are prized for their skill with piloting and repairing ships.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Shalinjek, Illumnair, Unified Basic. The Daelshenji have some of the most sophisticated translation bots and equipment within Coalition space. Constantly refining and updating. Due to this they are sometimes called be the Coalition as first contact specialists since they have a history of finding inhabited worlds.

Common Dress code

The one constant among the Daelshenji wardrobe is the principle of practicality and functionality. They often wear full environmental suits to protect them from sudden decompression and to protect them from various diseases they might pick up on their travels. Over the centuries their suits have come to take on a strong cultural significance. They decorate their suit with various trinkets and garbs they find along their travels. This is how they allow their personalities to shine through their otherwise drab exterior. Each one a badge of the places and people they have met. It is considered customary to inquire about the story behind such things.   When out of their enviromental suits they usually were an outfit known as a Valendar. It is a military like uniform with many pockets. A Valendar is decorated much like an environmental suit though they tend to be more flashy and show off many more of their wares.

Art & Architecture

Those Daelshenji that have a developed taste in art tend to like abstract, impressionistic or surreal artwork. Saying that the art form is a way of seeing the world in a way never seen before. Others like alien and fantastical landscapes. Though almost all agree that only digital forms and not physical are the best as they do not take up physical space.   There are those Daelshenji that have a socialite streak will record and film their travels turning them into holodramas that are updated as they come in contact with communication hubs.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Their nomadic nature has them constantly coming and going. They never know when they might return and who will be there to great them. This has caused the Daelshenji to value friendship as deeply as blood relations, in some cases more so. Those they travel with become their bond mates. Their venturing family.   The Daelshenji have developed a rich and intricate system of symbols. Each symbol designed to tell a story in its own right. Creating one of the greatest customs among the Daelshenji is to leave glyphs (often called tags) in places to tell the story of one's coming and passing. When a symbol is found another smaller symbol is added. Locations of found glyphs are uploaded to the Reshaluna's data network. Some Reshan have developed a game of trying to find the glyphs based upon the coordinates. When they are found they often will hide a container and place something inside for any others that happen to cross by and know what the symbols mean.

Coming of Age Rites

There are several coming of age rites observed by the Daelshenji. Within the course of searching through the archive I found this:   "Coming of age. Most other species just give a present and a tax form. We do something like that but so much more.   We are considered to be grown when we are first fitted for our own unique suit. We enter a room and our family and bond mates are there. They present us the suit that was chosen. Our family decorates it with many trinkets that hold significants. I partly wonder if this is because deep down we know that soon we may never see each other again. From there we   We are taken in among our bond mates and family. They     Being fitted for a suit.
