Maryam
A territory of the Coviorian Republic, Maryam is a magocracy ruled by Archmage Flavius. Having a mage or engineer (the two professions are quite similar in Maryam) in your family is almost necessary. Because of the prevalence of magi, most menial labor is done by automatons. Because of this, peasants cannot support themselves- if they do not have a mage in the family, they are often forced to emigrate to survive.
In Maryam, creating a Clockwork is half vanity project, half child.
Maryam only has four electors in the Coviorian Parliament, however, it plays out outsized role in Coviorian politics given its status as a magi-tech powerhouse.
