Tall and lean, King Cyrion is in excellent physical condition.  He carries a scar along his right rib cage, where a lance went astray and pierced the skin and cracked two ribs.

Apparel & Accessories

For formal events and for his royal court, King Cyrion wears the traditional black and ermine colors of Carador.  His clothes are of the finest make.  In court, the king wears the Crown of Honor and the Medal of Valor, the traditional royal regalia for the nation.  He also wears the signet ring of the house of Indigo on his right hand.    When dressed more casually, Cyrion favors the colors green or russet, the latter being an homage to his late uncle.

Specialized Equipment

Cyrion wields the official sword of Carador, known by its full title, "The Sword of Might and Mercy."  It is reputed to be magical, although its properties are not known publicly.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Cyrion Indigo was born 24 years ago to King Onfroi II and Queen Aelisse.  His upbringing was unexceptional.  He was given into his uncle's care, the famous Red Prince Edduard, younger brother to the king.  Despite being noble, Prince Edduard held no lands and had refused any other titles from his royal brother, preferring to be a knight errant and a marshal during times of war.   Cyrion acted as page, then squire to his famous uncle and saw much of the countryside during these years.  When a company of Tempest Knights from Erynland invaded southern Carador, the Red Prince was tasked with driving them away, and Cyrion went with him.  The "Squall of Swords", as it became known, pitted the Red Prince and some of the finest knights of the realm against a full company of Tempest Knights, nearly mad in their fervent devotion to the Lord of Storms.  The fighting only lasted for approximately a month and a half, and culminated in the fateful Battle for Long Bridge.  During that battle, the knights of Carador turned the Erynlanders back, but just at the moment of victory, a stray crossbow bolt struck Prince Edduard through the eye, killing him.  Cyrion, who was acting as his uncle's standard bearer at the time, saw the bolt strike home and held his uncle upright, even in death, so Carador's army would not lose heart at the loss of their leader.  To honor his uncle, the bridge has since been renamed Redgrave Bridge.   For his actions, Cyrion was knighted later that same year.  A year later, his mother died in childbirth along with who would have been Cyrion's baby brother.  Cyrion canceled plans to travel the continent as a result, and instead assisted his father who had fallen into a great depression over the loss of his wife.  For a period of time, fifteen year old Cyrion was the true power behind the throne, giving unofficial orders and pushing decrees under his father's nose to sign and seal.  The king ultimately recovered, but many of the barons afterwards looked at Cyrion as Carador's real leader even after King Onfroi reclaimed his power.    If Cyrions actions while his father mourned were unusual, unscrupulous barons thinking to drive a wedge between father and son were instantly disappointed.  Onfroi showed no concern over his son's actions, and father and son appeared to be closer than ever.  Some rumors swirled that the king was secretly enraged that his son had seized the reins of power, but felt that if he publicly chastised his son, it would lead to civil war.  Regardless of his true feelings, King Onfroi showed nothing but affection and agreement with Cyrion.  Cyrion publicly declared his loyalty to his father and appeared to harbor no resentment at giving up control.   When Cyrion turned eighteen, he journeyed to Lys, the capital city of Rosalind.  While there, the various noble houses of Rosalind feted him and presented any marriageable daughters for his regard.  While he was dining with Duke Skirr Lucherto, the Lizardfolk noble ruler of the duchy of Lucertolia, an elderly woman broke into the feasting hall.  She declared that she was the legendary witch Baba Yaga, and that she bore the tragic news that Cyrion's father had died that very evening.  Duke Lucherto, despite the distance, insisted on providing the grief-stricken young man with an armed escort and personally led it all the way across Rosalind to Avencourt.  Less than two weeks later, Cyrion was crowned Cyrion I, King of Carador.

Education

Cyrion had private tutors from an early age, who taught him mathematics, history, logic, rhetoric and geography.  Later in life, he was taught economics, but he never liked the subject and frequently avoided his classes on it.  He was given instruction in music, but has a terrible singing voice and is all thumbs with any instrument he attempted to play.   At the age of 10, he became a page for his uncle, Prince Edduard, who improved his martial skills with sword and lance, and his horsemanship.  The Red Prince also taught Cyrion strategy and tactics, using both real-world examples and games.

Social

Family Ties

King Cyrion has two younger sisters, Eloise and Cecille.  He also has several cousins, but he is not close with them.

Religious Views

King Cyrion is an indifferent worshiper of Raya, through the goddesses' traditional faith.  He dislikes the Matriarchy, but has been convinced not to banish it outright from his realm.  Cyrion also worships Astoria, the goddess of war and tactics.  King Cyrion does not have a resident spiritual advisor as part of his Court, but wandering priests are often welcome guests for short periods.
