Human

Basic Information

Anatomy

All Humans are born with two arms, two legs, and a head.  However, from there the sheer diversity of Humans is uncountable - their height, weight, body type, skin, eye, and hair color are all variable, based on their culture and geographic location, or family heritage.  Most males can grow facial hair and are slightly taller than females.

Growth Rate & Stages

Human children grow quickly, reaching maturity in approximately 15 years.  Transitioning to an adult, Humans remain active until the reach their "middle ages", at about 40.  Over time, Humans lose strength and dexterity as they age into their older years.  Most Humans only live into their 70's or late 80's, but exceptional persons have lived longer.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Humans are omnivorous, consuming both meat and fruits and vegetables for sustenance.  What they precisely eat is more a matter of local culture and cuisine than basic dietary needs.  Humans have to eat and drink every day, or they can die by starvation or dehydration.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Having so much more variety than other cultures, Humans as a whole have no typical names. Some Human parents give their children names from other Heritages, such as Dwarfish or Fey, but most parents give names that are linked to their region’s culture or to the naming traditions of their ancestors.

History

Humans are believed to be one of the youngest Heritages in the Lands of Legend, cropping up somewhere between the end of the First Age and the beginning of the Second Age.  Since then, Humans have been the driving force behind most, if not all, major governments in the Lands of Legend.  The Kingdoms of Rosalind, Veltingard, Aurulant and Carador all have Human leaders at present.  Humans make up much of the population in the Lands of Legend.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Humans, while they get along with most Heritages, can tend towards generalization and stereotyping of other Heritages.  They may also feel a certain jealous friction with the Fey, based on the latter's beauty and claim to be one of the oldest Heritages and cultures in the Lands.
