Polymorphic Objects

Polymorphic objects are a staple of Erdosian magical technology as a significant portion of mechana (particularly weapons, tools, and some armors) have this extraordinary magical trait.
As its name implies, a polymorphic object can change shape. For instance, a magic sword can transform between various predetermined shapes; it can be a short sword, a longsword, or a greatsword.
This transformation appears as if the item in question is disassembled in many smaller pieces; some are rearanged into new positions and configurations, while others are folded into the item's own demispace. This allows a polymorphic item to enter extradimensional spaces, like bags of holding or portable holes, without causing a localized annihilation event.
Other examples are shields that are folded into a gauntlet, plate armors that doff into a backpack, polearm weapons that not only change function but also fold into small rods for easy carry, and even structural elements like doors that polymorph into an open state.
The unique appearance of this polymorphic trait means that when creatures around the multiverse see such objects in action, they know for sure the items are of Erdosian origin (assuming they even know of planet Erdos.
