Hoplon Industries

Hoplon Industries was a Dorian Grand Guild active during the Age of the Varn. They specialized in the creation of constructs and were considered the industry leaders in that field. Hoplon was started by Dorian mechanists. Their ancestors worshiped a pantheon of gods known as the Olympians. Like most Erdosians, the Dorians of the Age of the Varn did not worship any gods, but they were inspired by Olympian mythology—particularly the god Hephaestus.   Like all Grand Guilds, Hoplon Industries possessed several magifactories, most of them on modern day Dorianor. All of them were destroyed during the War of the Varn. With these magifactories, they produced hundreds of constructs both for civilian and military use. Some of their most well established models were the servitor automaton (a specialized version of animated armor), the hoplite automaton (helmed horrors), the sentinel (shield guardian), and the devastator (iron golem).   Most of the automatons used by the other Grand Guilds, and especially the ones guarding Vaults, were purchased from Hoplon Industries. Hoplon itself had hundreds of vaults hidden around Erdos. When discovered, these vaults are filled with dangerous automata and often contain arcane lore on the creation of such mechana.   During the War of the Varn, Hoplon Industries sided with Khar Varn. There's a growing theory amongst historians that Hoplon Industries chose that side not because they wanted the The Varn to be deities, but to open the path for the worship of other gods. The theory purports that Hoplon had secretly been a cult of Hephaestus all along, and by assisting Khar win the war, they would gain the ability to contact their god once again. The theory is based largely on words of religious praise written in some of Hoplon’ weapons and constructs, though it has to be mentioned that Hephaestus—or any god for that matter—was never mentioned.   A few surviving historical records from the War of the Varn state that Hoplon’s greatest project was called Remote Judgement. It was the creation of a single, extremely advanced, fully sentient construct whose primary role was to remote control all constructs on a given battlefield. In the language of the Dorians, they called it Telediki. Apparently Telediki was under construction for over a century but it became active five years into the war. The records mention battlefields that Hoplon Industries constructs dominated with their supreme coordination and tactical prowess as soon as Telediki came online. However no further mentions were discovered and no archaeological proof of these ancient writings.   Two years ago the answer to this riddle came thanks to the legendary Fatebreakers (who had a brief time travel during the War of the Varn). The Fatebreakers were recruited by Blackblade Armaments and on a special mission to destroy Telediki, they triggered an oblivion bomb on her core (which was also Hoplon’s Headquarters) destroying her.

Disbandment

Shortly after the destrucion of Telediki and their main headquarters, Hoplon Industries effectively ceased to exist.
