The Fatebreakers

Champions of Time and Space
Agents of the Guardian of Worlds
Slayers of Ashardalon

The legendary Fatebreakers were a party of adventurers that sacrificed themselves to save the world nearly two years ago. By the time of their demise they were:
  • Black Rose Knight-Captain Lorgar Uroshkan, a dragonborn Paladin and High Champion of the Guardian of Worlds.
  • High Archmage Galthryn Aessir, diamond elf, Master of Abjuration.
  • Cid Von Héssel, a stregoni warlock who had mastered his power by destroying his fiendish patron.
  • Archdruid Maea ‘Maia’ Laelithar, emerald elf, Mistress of the Circle of the Raven.
  • Bishop Boris Orlov, dwarf, Ivory Warpriest of the Dwamar.
  • And Archmage Shamus O’Shameless, a halfling bard and Master of Colleges.
Galthryn and Boris joined the team later. Lorgar, Cid, Maia, and Shamus, along with the elven assassin Gildor Luinwe were the founding members. Gildor however retired soon after. He was replaced by a rogue modron that called itself Dalek Modron and had mastered wizardry. Dalek slowly transitioned more into a support role aboard the Stargazer station instead of going in the field with the rest of the team. As a result, Dalek is the only surviving Fatebreaker, though no one knows where he currently is.   The founding members of the group came together as a chartered Provisional party in the town of Blumont in Ravnor, Grosgant on the Second Dragonsday of Enak 1736 AV, when each of them (for their own reasons) got involved in the investigation of a series of ritualistic murders. This catapulted them on a collision course with The Black Sun, a secret occult society whose goal was the reestablishment of the Aboleth Empire.

Beginings

The Fatebreakers (then still AURA Provisional Party GRG36A15) Still a provisional party, they discovered that the Black Sun was looking for the pieces of an imprisonment shard that held an ancient aboleth.   The team then proceeded to acquire the remaining pieces of the imprisonment shard before the Black Sun did. In the process, they liberated Dalek Modron from an ancient vault. Dalek was in stasis for over 1700 years, and was in fact the one who designed the three vaults.   Unfortunately, they were betrayed by an ally who turned out to be Richter Von Héssel, Cid’s grandfather and leader of the Black Sun. Richter nearly killed the adventurers before taking off with the shards.   After regrouping, the group sought to discover what the Fatebreaker was and where it was. They were joined in this by Professor Galthryn Aessir and his friend, Boris Orlov. The group soon discovered that the Fatebreaker was part of several ancient prophecies referring to them specifically by name. The prophecies even mentioned Galthryn and Boris.   Their quest led them to gain access to the ancient space station, Stargazer, which was abandoned since the War of the Varn. They took it as their base of operations.   Finally, within a Blackblade Armaments vault, they discovered the Fatebreaker itself; an advanced prototype skyship with spelljammer capabilities (making it more of a starship). It was then they officially left the Provisional registration behind and became the Fatebreakers.

Rise of the Fatebreakers

With an unreachable-to-their-enemies base of operations and the starship to match it, the Fatebreakers launched a renewed campaign against the forces of the Black Sun and their Aboleth overlords. Their adventures took them on many of the Lands of Erdos, from Grosgant, Athanor, to Akualinor. They also visited the distant planet Kjeldorn, as well as Sigil, the City of Doors.   In the midst of all these, they forged close ties with the Brightstones when Maia discovered her true identity as Maea Laelithar, cousin to High Archmage Aelthas Laelithar of the Brightstones. Eventually, because of growing bonds of friendship, overlapping interests, and Maia’s familial relationship with Aelthas, the Brightstones and Fatebreakers affectionally started to refer to each other as ‘cousins.’
