Soriri

You'll find all manner of bandits and beasts there.
— Greg talking with Grog

Soriri is an area two days of travel west of Erion. It is a large area of sunken, rocky ground that is split open by giant fissures.

Furthermore, the fissures can lead to plenty of caves. This has allowed Soriri to become full of monsters of all kinds and it is also a place where criminals of all kinds consider a safe haven, since the law does not travel there.

Even if soldiers tried to find all criminals it would be a struggle not only agains swords and shields, but also agains claws and fur. As such it has not been considered worth it to clear the area.

History

Only the gods can truly tell how places came to be. However, that does not mean that people don't try to explain it themselves. As such the history might as well be called a myth.

The story goes that once a god was imprisoned deep under Soriri. Eventually they broke free of they chains holding them there. With great anger they started twisting and turning, tearing their prison apart.

On the surface the ground shook violently, until it cracked, creating the large fissures we see today. Eventually the god had expended their anger and left.

Since this god was the only thing holding the ground up the ground collapsed, expanding the fissures and creating the sunken ground.

Tourism

While the vast majority of people who travel to Soriri have some form of business there, most often of illicit nature, there are a handful each year who just want to see this place which stands out like a sore eye.

Finding the place is not particularly difficult, but most who know how to get there are not trustworthy.
