Killigan Keep

Its location is in the middle of the Carrowine Forest. This is where vampires and werewolves have congregated to seek shelter and safety.

A small castle sits suspended in air, roots from the trees in its courtyards hanging listlessly beneath it and brushing the ground below. The only way up is flight or knowledge of the portal that empties out at what used to be the main gate. The portal itself is located further inside the forest, guarded by a corrupted portal guardian.

Inside the main foyer, the vines and greenery have covered most surfaces. Small shrubs grow through the cracks in the stone floors, and flowers bloom on the staircase railings. The lighting from lanterns shine a soft blue light from their magical flames, casting the rooms in an ethereal glow. Tall stained-glass windows allow for multicolored light, or they would, if it were not for the thick, brocade curtains that protect the resident vampires from the sun's light.

It's a massive keep, with rooms converted into bunkhouses for its many residents. It's divided in half, one wing for the vampires and one for the werefolk. They hate the situation, feeling like they're cowering like cornered animals in the keep, but they have few places to go, and there's safety in numbers.

The werefolk use the portal to leave so they can hunt for their next meal, although there's space in the courtyard for a vegetable garden to add variety to their diets; they're omnivorous. Most of the vampires can fly out of the keep at will and rarely need the portal. The hushrums are the only ones who need the portals; they don't have wings or the ability to fly without them.
