Augury Assimilates Caripreet

The assimilation of Caripreet into the Augury after it had claimed independence during the collapse of the Saltkrigere Empire.

After enjoying nearly a century of independence, Caripreet began to desire the fruits that accompanied alliance with the empire. The foremost desire was to have manned roads connected to Saint's Maar on the Augury's finances, as this would make Caripreet's ports a financial behemoth. For most of the oligarchs in the city though, this would not be enough to justify an assimilation and subjugation. Fortunately for Caripreet, the Augurs' visions of the marsh made them willing to improve the bargain.   After years of communication, it was decided that Caripreet could regulate its own taxes on J'barri goods, and the Augury would have to makes strides in improving relations with the lionfolk. Lastly, the territory would need an assurance that it could maintain its own private military. Eventually, all of these criteria were met, but the deal would still fall short for the coastal city, as Eldurgrund took action in assuring that the "Saint's Maar" road would have to connect through Eldurgrund, rather than connect directly to the nation's capital.
