The Razing of Astania, Birth of Eldurgrund

The razing of Astania after a long period of sieging. This resulted in the complete destruction of the city and her territories.

After Anivol Brandson gathered forces of vengeful pirates, J'barri Firemages, citizens of Caripreet, and gained the use of fire magic himself (as well as enchanted weapons), he made way for Astania. The ruler at the time, Ithydan Astani, put up a good defense after hearing of the siege weeks before it occurred. Unfortunately, the barricades, cavalry, and footsoldiers would not be enough to stop Anivol. After the first line of defense was breached, Anivol began a siege.   He hoped he would be able to starve the people of the Barondom without consequence, but they lasted far longer than he would have hoped. after assassins were sent in the night, killing several of his generals, he decided that immediate action must be taken.   Anivol had grown quite disdainful toward the people of Astania as he had more time than ever to dwell on his past. Ultimately, he would take dozens of his most powerful mages and set massive portions of field ablaze. Many of Anivols casters burned themselves out at his command, trusting him deeply. By the time they reached the central keep, Ithydan had killed himself.   The extent of the burning was so great that the lands would be unusable for years and caravans became of utmost importance. Regardless, Anivol took his seat as Baron and would bring his territory into a brighter future under the name "Eldurgrund." The history of savagery was cast off and they began to repair ties with Fjordstrond.
