Revolution in Urale

Military: War

1612

Urale's civil war fought between Olitar and Nevityra Feneyl for the Waning Keep. The war would be pivotal in creating the modern political landscape of the west, pitting the kingdom against its dark past of Ulitolean ideals.

Centuries after the banning of dark elves from the kingdom, Urale would finally be faced with its dark past and xenophobic tendencies during a revolution that would paint its political landscape as we know it today. While social progress had been climbing for centuries (particularly when it came to the denizens' regard of their elvish neighbors), the recent conflicts and political tensions regarding the dwarves of Roinegilar, unrestricted scientific advancement, and Nevityra Feneyl's initiative to promote nationalism would see a divide in the population.   Nevityra and scholars of the era would call the new wave of social politics "Ulitolean," harkening on the ideas proposed by Ulitol Feneyl during his reign. These ideas generally involved an isolationist approach to foreign policy, a rigid caste system, mandatory public education (for certain castes) provided by the state, social conservatism, and total state authority over scientific achievement.   The decades of Nevityra's rule were dark for the people of Urale, making Dour Rai and his close contemporaries nervous for the future of the nation. With their neighbors lending their efforts to globalization once more (as can be seen by the domination of the Caripreet Sea), Urale would fall behind diplomatically without radical change. The solution would be Olitar Feneyl, Nevityra's younger brother by 3 years.   Olitar and Dour Rai would silently wage war through politics and bribery. While the young prince would be the perfect face for revolution, Dour Rai's long life and connections would win the war for certain. The two important territories to capture would be Ilobel and the Waning Keep. Captains that served the keep's security houses were bribed into submission and promised lateral movement under the reign of Olitar. A secondary force was built to ensure the city of Ilobel would submit to the new rule.   Unfortunately for the citizens of Ilobel, Nevityra would refuse to surrender and a force to liberate the keep was formed in kingdom's capital city. Olitar's extensive knowledge of the city's complicated machinations would serve his own forces well, as targetted attacks at Ilobel saw the retalitory force destroyed. Perhaps the most destructive act would be the destruction of the Otaviltor Dam, which flooded several villages north of Ilobel and caused irreperable damage to the capital itself.
