The settlement of the Saltkrigere warriors at Shellbay and the subsequent slaughter of the native Kaban tortoise-folk.
Kanel Logratte and the Saltkrigere were quick to establish settlements in their newly established lands. When reaching the shore, they saw hundreds of the largest tortoises they had ever seen. Prior, they had only seen hand-sized box turtles. Seeming to be hibernating, the Saltkrigere left them alone, presuming they would be perfect self-stored food. Over a few weeks, they built their shelters from bricks of coral and clay, being able to fit roughly six individuals per home. They then got to work building communal stations and fish hatcheries. Each day, roughly eight tortoises were required to feed the whole crew. On difficult days, it took as many as twelve. Only after this event did the Saltkrigere learn they had been slaying the sentient Kaban species during their state of spiritually-induced hibernation.
