Notable History
Morris Cove's history has been defined by the following events:Expansion Conflict (1450 - 1490)
Dossil's East coast consisted of a series of trading ports and coastal settlements. Each port saw significant use, however there was one located in a cove to the North-East. This would go on to become Morris Cove Proper as they proceeded to claim neighbouring territories.Within a few years, due to each of the East coast ports expanding and claiming their neighbouring territories, Many small skirmishes broke out between these new, larger territories. Due to Morris Cove's position, and their first monarch, Sorren Morris' push for a stronger naval presence, they were able to secure the majority of trade with the neighbouring continents and intercept vessels heading to the other Eastern ports. Allowing them to dominate future conflicts and claim the entire Eastern side of Dossil.
The Gudtwin-Morris Covenant (1480)
During their great expansion, Knight King Sorren Morris was unable to breach the walls surrounding the clan lands of Gudtwin. With the dwarves having their own internal food supplies, a long term seige would only strengthen the position of the dwarves while weakening Morris Cove's expanding frontlines. So Knigh King Sorren Morris parleyed with Earl Branost Gudtwin to come to an agreement. The Dwarves had no interest in expanding or giving up their own lands, they wished only to maintain their way of life. The two parties reached an accord and entered a blood pact. Now any who bear the standard of Morris Cove or Clan Gudtwin are forever bound by kinsmanship.
First Dossil War (1510 - 1570)
Under the new leadership of Knight Queen Brianne Morris, Morris Cove sought to expand further inland securing the continent under their standard. However, while scouting to Dossil's central mountain range, they encountered another squad of scouts from Hydenbur. These scouts immediately attacked those from Morris Cove giving birth to a bloody conflict that lasted 60 years. After both sides had suffered horrendous losses, the armies decided to call a truce and agreed neither side should have control over the land that lay between them. The communities in this land banded together to create a new country, @Mitlind, under the rule of their own parliamentary government.
