20th day of Palitide, 12th Year of the Reign of Empress Sorsasta, 5728Adventurers: William Sweet; Rea the Deranged; Rankum; Tellem Eglin Gaertheen
Some of the guys have asked me to join them investigating some suspicious people that attacked the Griffin, an inn located in Nedev. Owned by Maror and Kelrisa Griff. We believe that the attack was orchestrated by the local thieves guild, the Brotherhood of the Night. We are heading now towards the shop of Ilric Basi, a merchant connected to the attack but it is unknown in what way. We arrive at the shop after just as it is getting ready to close down for the evening. We attempt to ask about Osben, one of the thieves who attacked the Griffin, and Basi doesn't want to play ball and we get nothing from him. However, his servant woman showed a reaction to the name. We decide to approach her after her shift.
I catch up with her on the Street of Merchants as she leaves the shop. She is very hesitant to talk to us but we learn that Osben is a known womanizer and he is a known thief. We surmise that he must have been planning to loot the shop. Thinking it best to hang around for some time we witness a man enter the shop and exchange words with Ilic Basi. We follow the unknown man to an Inn called the River Inn. Could it be the owners of the River Inn are the culprits?
Rankum and I enter and take a table ordering the baked eel and a glasses of a good wine, and wait for the man we followed to do something. I watch him as I eat. Then Tellum and Rea try to enter but are stopped at the door and turned away because of Rea's poor clothes. The gentleman we are watching, moves near the stage where he listens to the musician perform. He takes a few drinks and a whisper from the bar maid. After that he goes to the 2nd floor. We rent a room and that gives us access to the second floor. I listen to the doors until I hear the man in room number nine talking to a mysterious woman. The woman wants the man to put pressure on Basi to do some job. We head out of the River Inn and find Rea. We head to Basi's shop once more to talk to him.
The man is uncooperative but he gives us some valuable information. First, it seems that his goal is to make the business district safe from a group of thugs running a protection racket. The Griffs have been informed of this but have done little to end it. He would not tell us the name of the mysterious woman at the River Inn for fear of death to us all.
Basi tells us that the gang running the biggest protection racket is the Succubus Saints and they can be found at an abandoned tavern called the Pig & Pie that is located on the Farmer's Square near the South Gatehouse.
Frustrated and with more questions then when we started we head out in the late hrs to rest and plan the raid of the Pig & Pie tavern.
