Earl

The rank of Earl is the second level of hereditary titles recognized in Kyrn. it is used mostly outside of the Empire of Kyrnia. It ranks above Baron and below Marchon in the order of precedence, and is equivelent to the rank of Count in the Empire. Earls are addressed as "Earl", and "Your Lordship". The title of Earl is associated with a land grant. It is the passing of the land that passes the hereditary title. The spouse of a Earl is given the honorific title of Countess. The female form of Earl is Countess.
In the lands where Earl is used, it is never given without a land grant, so there are no "court" Earls.
