Duke

The rank of Duke is the fourth level of hereditary titles recognized in most of Kyrn and in particular the Empire of Kyrnia. It ranks above Marchon and below the royal titles of Prince, King and Emperor in the order of precedence. Dukes are addressed as "Duke", and "Your Lordship". The title of Duke, like other titles in the Empire is associated with a land grant. It is the passing of the land that passes the hereditary title. The spouse of a Duke is given the honorific title of Duchess. The female form of Duke is Duchess.
There are no "court" Dukes. All Dukes have large land grants associated with their titles.
