The Khairas Verses

Priests of an ancient spiritual tradition that lived around Great Mount Khairas ---the tallest mountain in Kyre---received a divine message from the dwarven gods, offering protection and peace after death to all mortals, not just the Dwarves, so long as they commit to these Orders. This became the founding passage of scripture for The Brazen Order, which rapidly spread throughout the tropics as the official state religion of the Ereduarn Empire

Although the Khairas Verses are the central religious document of the religion, they are actually a relatively brief text. The Verses are short enough to be carved in their entirety into most temple walls, as they often are.

How short it is also helps the practice of the religion, which requires individuals to create a copy the text verbatim---a tradition called Assentation. When possible, people are cremated with this material form of their Assent, which is often kept in one's home until then to remind them of their mortal covenants. They are most commonly a simple carved slate tablet, but may take other forms. Families usually like to keep the Assents of their ancestors to remember them by after the funeral ceremony.

Manuscripts containing the Verses often include other influential religious texts, like the Arbitrations, which were introduced after the original Verses to provide clarifications and other divinely declared truths.

The traditional way to record one's Assent is on sheets of slate from Mt. Khairas itself.
