Zephyrion Tries to Gamble

The party had returned to Keelhaul. Weaver and his ships were set to sail the next day on the 21st. Aside from some training they spent doing for a few hours, Zephyrion went to the local tavern to try his hand at gambling for a quick coin.   Of course, the charlatan he was, it didn't take long before he resorted to gambling. It took even less time for him to get caught, be thrown out, and become four silver coins poorer, never allowed in again.

Arves' Next Step

Back on the Ravager, a vision came to Arves. It was suddenly only him on the deck of the ship, and out in the water, the silhouette of a monstrous creature floated beneath the waves, three glowing-red eyes staring back at him. It spoke the vision into sight, and at once Arves was given the same vision Corellia had once been given barely a few days ago.   Clarissa was the key to the next step in freeing Loch. She was connected in some way to the Heart of the Kraken. Arves' next task was to find out how.

Sailing for Puris Anchorage

The day passed, and in the next morning, the party set sail on the Ravager with Weaver, south-bound toward Puris' Anchorage. On the ship were Obaaji's Kobolds, the Ore Musketeers, and themselves, with the New Management bottled up. Weaver sailed upon the Hellflower, and the Featherweight, its captain Osaidus, followed, too.   The air was cold and the sun was high as they reached the anchorage. The Featherweight guarded the western side of the harbor while the party sat tight on the eastern side. The Hellflower sat dead center.   At the docks were several ships, only two of which were armed. One of them was the Devil's Privateer, flagship of Captain Two-Heart.

The Parlay

Weaver's booming voice roared over the town as he called to Two-Heart, issuing his request for a parlay — his ultimatum. Two-Heart answered, and Zephyrion, who had taken to soaring close in the air, saw an illusory orc captain appear onto the ship and sit down with Weaver.   The party did not interfere while the parlay took place. Weaver made it very clear Two-Heart had two choices: surrender the anchorage or perish in the fighting. But Two-Heart responded, "Mindless green oaf! You do not know who you cross. Try anything, and you will fight hell itself!" Then, Two-Heart's illusory image vanished.   The parlay unsuccessful, the party heard Weaver's voice over the water as he exclaimed, "Men, sack the city!"

The Battle

No sooner had Weaver given the order than the battle began. Ship sailed against ship, man against man.   Devising a plan, the party summoned the New Management and funneled the kobolds onto it with Zephyrion. As the Ravager, Hellflower, and Featherweight sailed to intercept the Privateer and other galiot, the New Management would cut straight through to the town.   So, when the Ravager and the Hellflower flanked and boarded the Privateer, Zephyrion and the kobolds were not there for the fight that transpired. The crew of the Privateer changed shape into a crew of fiends, their true identity and fought fiercely. Smoke from cannonfire and the muskets of the Ore Musketeers filled the air, and demonic hordes of imps flew the air, attacking everything. The imps pursued the kobolds into town.   The crew of the Privateer was slaughtered after some time. Yet, Captain Two-Heart was nowhere to be found.

Death of Zephyrion and Obaaji

Meanwhile, as the fight at sea raged, the New Management came into dock, and Zephyrion and Obaaji led the kobolds to attack the town directly. Still under constant harassment by the flying imps, they faced heavy resistance in the streets as the citizens garrisoning the town joined the fight against the attackers, overwhelming the kobolds.
A barbed devil leading the imps faced off against Zephyrion personally, and it was a bloody fight. But, the kobolds were killed (those who weren't ran), and Obaaji breathed his last as, carried by two imps, he was ripped in half. Zephyrion fell moments after, killed by the devil. Just then, everyone else arrived to reinforce the assault and saw the massacre.   The devil, gravely injured, was dealt with in short time, and the imps were picked off by the musketeers, but the party mourned the loss of Zephyrion and Obaaji.

A Miracle

They looked to Asterid, their cleric, hoping she could bring them back, but she needed a diamond of rich proportion to even bring back one of them. But lo! right next to them was a jewelry yet to be looted from Weaver's forces now storming the anchorage, and inside among the stock was the very gem that was needed!   Quickly finding Obaaji's halves, a quick choice needed to be made. Asterid could call upon Hwesta to bring one back, but not both. Feeling a purer relationship with Obaaji, she invoked her magic to bring him back over Zephyrion. His halves were restored and Obaaji breathed life anew. He was hurriedly rushed back to the Ravager, away from the fighting.

Road the Counting House

Shortly after the encounter, Weaver arrived Danuthi and Reed at his side, the Vasa'im behind him. His forces had learned Two-Heart was making a last stand at the counting house of the anchorage at the high point in town, and was advancing, thus. He ordered the party to lead with Reed and the Vasa'im as they led the final assault on Two-Heart and ended this ordeal.   They reached the counting house and fought their way inside to a courtyard, where they came face-to-face with Two-Heart and his Devil Gang. Two-Heart shed his orc-skin and revealed the devil underneath, denouncing the party in the infernal tongue. Corellia heard this, "Swine! You may think yourselves strong, now. But, you will wish you had left with tail between your legs when you face a true devil!"   The fight for Puris' Anchorage would end soon.   To be continued...
