Luna, The Moon's Veil

You look to darkness and see danger. You look to night and see the unknown. And you avoid it, like flies to a web. All life exists for one sole purpose. Transformation. Walk in my night, and you shall not run from what you fear, but defeat it.
~ Luna, the Moon's Veil ~

True Light

Light. Something always looked to for comfort, peace, and security. Cowardliness. Light and its warmth, its brilliance was all but an illusion to the promises it gave weary onlookers. A beautiful pearl, glittering on the outside. But within, it was hollow and misshapen. Empty.   But light did not always exist. Upon the universe's formation, where tales recount of countless beings scattering themselves across it, night encompassed everything. And with it, everyone agrees, came the endless conflicts and the relentless terrors that ravaged mortals.   Many looked to the darkness as uncontrollable, others called it natural. But the being named Luna saw something else. She saw a challenge. She observed everything these beings went through. The blood that was spilt, heartache that was felt. And though some fell or gave up, others grew from these experiences, adapting to their environment, quelling it at every turn.   Night was no monster, but a gateway. A gate that, if reached, would recast a being's soul altogether, and become something greater. So she bound herself to the night and the darkness. As long as it existed, so too would she. And she ruled with full control over the darkness, that mortals would continuously face these threats with the promise of true growth.   But the god named Pelor approached her at a time, pleading she cast away this darkness and end the suffering. Though she refused, it was not the last time that she encountered the being. For suddenly, an infinite plane of eternal fire suddenly sprang into existence. Crafted by Pelor's cosmic power, its light spread far into the universe, crafting fiery spheres named stars and suns. The light spread so far that it eradicated night across the universe, blinding Luna. Mortals no longer experienced the terrors of darkness, but joy.   This infuriated Luna. Transformation would never come without the guarantee of danger. Mortals would never become more than they were meant to be, would not obtain the zeal they are destined to gain. Nothing more than spoiled children.   Pelor's day meant to eradicate her night, but she would prove her darkness would consume the light instead. Expending great amounts of power, she also crafted a plane as Pelor had done. But where that one was filled with fiery light, hers was an eternal shadow. The Bedlam.   The shadow stretched from itself, far into the universe, forming the moons of space. Once again, night consumed everything and the moons shone its own dark light over every world.   This was Luna's decree to all those living. The light Pelor wished to bestow was a false light, one born out of weakness and emptiness. Hers was a true light, one that vowed to test every aspect of one's soul so they might become greater.   Pelor willed the light to make a new day, and Luna retaliated to make the night return a third time. Their powers constantly shifted the universe back and forth for time-everlasting, to now.   As enemies, one hopes to overcome the other, to ensure the fulfillment and eternality of their own light, whether in stress or comfort.

In all the strange shadows you see. In every nightmare you have. With all darkness that swallows your courage, she is there. Not because she is your enemy, but because she is your tester. Praise her and grow.
