Witch Hunter Zeyala Mistama (a.k.a. The Devil’s Thorn)

Born in the jungle of Amaria. Zeyala was born to parents in an ancient and powerful tribe. Father being a shaman of powerful natural magic, and her mother the born hunter, Zeyala was already taught from a very young age about survival.
But already when Zeyala was just a child, tragedy struck. A darkness from the north had found its way south, into the jungle. Baba Urska. A powerful witch who tortured, butchered and ate all of Zeyalas family right in front of her.
But Baba Urskas fame, meant alot of money on her head. And a witch hunter from Raven Nest came and killed the witch before she could lay her hand on Zeyala. The mysterious but powerful witch hunter then took Zeyala with her to Ravennest, where she would be trained into the famous witch hunter she became.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Zeyala has trained her entire life as a survivor and a fighter. She was taught in silent combat as a witch hunter. Here she was taught how to be silent, how to be in the shadows and how to kill. She is very agile and quick.

Identifying Characteristics

Zeyala is easily identified by a scar running across her lower lip. A wound she got on one of her first hunts which went bad. A witch took her blood, by cutting her lower lip open.

Apparel & Accessories

Zeyala is always wearing her black leather armor. A hood, and a face wrap that covers her mouth and nose, leaving just the eyes visible. She wears a black long coat, and a lot of small pouches all around, filled with many different things for her work.
As weapons she carries two black kamas she has mastered. She also always carries a witch gun. A weapon used to disorientate and blind a target. And like most other witch hunters, she carries a lot of knives all around her body, which she has mastered in melee combat and as a throwing weapon.

Personal history

Zeyala was born in an amarian tribe, located at the north part of the jungle. Here she lived the first few years with her parents. Her father was a shaman, and her mother a hunter. This resulted in her learning how to survive from a very young age.
North of Amaria, darkness started to move. A witch named Baba Urksa grew stronger and stronger, and was considered one of the most powerful witches at the time. She even moved out of Fadiro, in hope she could bring the corruption of her goddess Mala around in the world. She came into the jungle, where she started kidnapping amarians traveling around by themself. She used necromantic magic on their bodies, after she had tortured and butchered them.
When she had gathered a fair amount of undead, she marched them into the tribe where Zeyala lived. Here they killed and injured all those capable of fighting back. All the old, the children and the ones they managed to injure were captured and brought to a small hut Baba Urksa had made. Here the old and the adults were then totured, butchered and eaten in front of the children of the tribe. And when they were all gone, she started to take the children one by one, doing the same.
Here Zeyala witnesses her entire clan being murdered and eaten in front of her. And when she was finally the only one left, it was supposed to be her turn. But before Urksa could manage to bring her out and do the same. The door to the hut was forced open, and in came a witch hunter of the north. Urksa was powerful and famous, meaning she had a fair bounty on her head. And this witch hunter came to collect that money.
It was a long and brutal fight, but in the end he managed to fell the witch. Against his own judgement, he took Zeyala with him to Ravennest, where she was then taken in by the witch hunters. She was taught how to live. And as she grew older, she became a stronger and stronger hunter. She spent her life hunting the kind of darkness that had taken her entire family from her.
One day, as she was on a hunt for a specific witch, she came into a house where she managed to kill the witch. But in a small cage at the back of the hut, she found a young boy, in the same situation she had once been in… She had to take him with her, like someone once did for her.

Mental Trauma

Zeyala doesn't remember her parents' names. She can't even really remember how they looked. All she really remembers from her family are their screams. A sound that haunts her nights so often. But also a sound that keeps her doing what she does.

Ever since Zeyala was just a child, revenge against the darkness that took her family from her has been the leading motivation. She wishes nothing more than to find Malas hut, and defeat her. And in that way, fight back against witches and their twisted ways.
