The Twilight Abyss

It is one of the few places in the world that can rival the ethereal beauty of a Fae palace. Even in the height of summer the surrounding mountains of the Usan Uuls prevent the suns light from reaching the Abyss, leaving it in a constant state of twilight, while the suns rays paint a kaleidascope through the watery peaks aboke.
— Jasper Comeron, Leader of The Bronze Ravens
No one is quite sure what fluke led to the creation of the Twilight Abyss. Even amoungst the gods responsible for the creation of the Usan Uuls it is a strange oddity not accounted for in legends. Withing the boundries of the Usan Uuls it is the only place where dry land exists. A valley surrounded by miles high glacial ice in a dizzying array of blues, purples, and arctic greens. The only light that reaches the valley floor is filtered through these natural lenses, losing much of its strength even in the height of summer.   Despite its eerie dimness, the valley brims with life. Luminescent fungi cling to jagged cliffs, while bioluminescent mosses carpet the valley floor. Strange, pale-leafed trees stretch skyward, their translucent leaves glowing faintly in the twilight. The creatures of the abyss are equally otherworldly—shadowy, nocturnal predators, moths with glowing wings, and great elk with crystalline antlers roam its expanse.   The water that melts into the valley is fresh, despite all logic to the contrary, and flows throughout the falley in small streams that wander to a central lake. This lake, often called the Eye of Dusk, is said to hold mystical properties and is rumored to be bottomless. There is at least something magical about the lake, as despite the constant inflow of water, the level remains constant.   It is said that the glaciers surrounding the valley each house shards of True Ice, though unlike in the case of Jak of the Rime and the Blackberry River, the nature of the Usan Uuls would make any expedition tantamount to suicide.
