Swordchuck
"When faced with a vastly superior opponent, one can spare time and effort by a single test. If thine enemy is taken offguard, the contest be over. If thine enemy is so superior as to thwart this technique, then the technique has rendered thy swift execution imminent, sparing thyself the pain of a slow, ignoble struggle. Simply split thy fingers twain by twain and cradle thy crossguard, allowing the pommel to rest twixt thy middle fingers with thy thumb erect along one guard and the blade laying flat against the heel of thy hand. Then, conduct a sidearm throw as if throwing thy spear, three digits higher to compensate for weight."
~Swordmaster Gernett Skinner.
The user of this technique can treat any longsword or shortsword as if it had the Thrown (10/20) property, with the exception that either must add their strength bonus to damage and cannot add their dexterity. If the opponent fails at an Insight check DC 13, the attack has advantage, and if they fail by five or more the attack is an automatic critical so long as it hits.
Significance
Swordmaster Gernett Skinner was a well known warrior and a prolific pamphleteer. It is believed that some techniques he disseminated in this fashion were to induce hypothetical opponents to attempt them, as many of his techniques are reckless at best.
