Dole Dragon
"Some fang dragon eggs were delivered to a bosetor and nurtured there. The things that hatched from them were even worse than fang dragons. Less bestial, but no less obsessed with the hunt. Vile monsters with a connection to the Shadow Plane and an appetite for corruption.
"Last I heard, the Dole Dragons and Fang Dragons had all been hunted down after priests of the rainbow bitch made something even worse."
~Vizzerdrum, caretaker of the Iridium Shrine, Alcedene
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dole dragons lack the spikes of their parent species. They are smooth and sinuous. As mutants, their facial features vary more widely, some have a mane of spikes and some are as slick and aerodynamic as a viper.
Genetics and Reproduction
To create a Dole Dragon, Fang dragon eggs are delivered through a Bosetor and sunk into a mire to hatch. Nine out of ten eggs will die, pickled by the crippling energies of the extraplanar bog. One may hatch, and a Dole Dragon is born.
Ecology and Habitats
Dole dragons prefer swamps, but like fang dragons they are more nomadic than other dragons, and can live anywhere they need to. Many will have small lairs set up along an annual route.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Like fang dragons, dole dragons were bred as draconic assassins. They require blood, but otherwise can eat nearly anything to sate themselves so long as they get enough blood.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
Dole dragons are known to be as cunning as fang dragons but much more strategic and intelligent.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Fang Dragons can "smell" the fate of a dragon. Upon meeting a person, they know whether they will kill a dragon. Upon meeting a dragon, they know in general how that dragon will die. This incidentally means that they immediately know when they have met a dragon, even polymorphed.
This sense gives them no special insight on when the slaying will happen, only that it is likely to occur. It does give a general sense of what sort of dragon a person or object will slay; color, power, etc.
