Courier's Guild
The Courier's Guild is an international organized transport labor group founded in 1382AP. The guildmembers offer delivery services within cities, nations, and even across different nations. While there are non-guild delivery services, members of the Courier's Guild are generally viewed as reliable and reasonably priced.
The Courier's Guild has a loose, informal structure with local guild posts electing leaders to coordinate with other posts to establish rates, policies, etc. This guild primarily operates across City-State of Sirom, Kingdom of Tayos, and the Western City-State Confederacy none of which have dedicated postal services (except a few specific Confederate City-States). The guild also operates in Republic of Lagos though mostly for international deliveries due to the Lagos Postal Service providing adequate intranational delivery service.
Their symbol is an envelope with wings. Members on delivery jobs displaying this symbol have generally been left alone by armed forces during various military conflicts, but over the years there have been instances of guildmembers being detained resulting in international controversies. However, valid stories of guildmembers accepting covert military shipments have generated controversies as well.
In 1999AP, the guild accepted its most unusual member: 0770 aka "Otto", an automoton built by Marvin the Marvelous in Sirom. Otto was Marvin's first success with creating a fully autonomous robotic humanoid, programmed with a desire to deliver mail and other packages. Otto's intent to deliver items for as a free service, instead of charging delivery fees, generated controversy among guildmembers that viewed it as undercutting.
