Aerona's Kiss
Amongst the many types of poisons used throughout the continent, one of the more lethal kinds is a black liquid known in Demarn as Aerona’s Kiss. Named after a death deity, this odourless and tasteless poison is capable of killing a person with only a few drops, meaning even minor exposure to mere residue can be lethal. Because of this, it's used largely in assassinations and by the King's Hounds to quickly subdue dangerous spellsters.
Symptoms
A fully lethal dose will down its victims almost instantaneously. They often fall frothing at the mouth with their eyes bulging.
Those unlucky enough to have received a minor dose will suffer convulsions, numbness in their limbs, difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness. Many also present with bloodshot eyes, which can lead to blindness.
Treatment
A standard poultice is enough to draw any hint of poison from the wound but, due to how quickly Aerona's Kiss kills, there is no known antidote.
A strong spellster who has studied healing can, like most other poisons, nullify the toxin, but only within themselves.
Prognosis
Non-self-healing survivors are rare and typically must live with tremors that are only tempered by a mixture of stardew flesh, dropweed roots and the leaf of a herb known as Elan’s hair. Even then, few regain the full function of their extremities.
