Personal history

According to his family members and neighbors, Ameriev was sheltered —if not hidden— by his mother. Hers was probably the first death he foresaw. When she was gone and his relatives and family friends came to take care of him as is the custom in their world, he predicted the death of each of them.

We though he was just... Well, his mom was dead. That breaks the heart of any person, let alone a kid. And he didn't have any other kind of relationship. So... well, he was scary, yes, but that was all. Or so we thought.

When some of the predictions proved to be accurate, the obvious explanation was that he had made it happen. That wasn't unheard of in their world, after all, and foreseeing abilities never show in the Nidauvie.
The only laws about crime in that world are centered in fraud and greediness, and murderer is often avenged by the loved ones of the victim, none of which was eager to kill a heartbroken child. He claimed to be innocent, and seemed terrified whenever he "spoke" a death—or a list of deaths, to be precise. Therefore, it was considered that he could be doing the killings by accident, and they decided that it was best to keep him away from people.
Exile, the only punishment applied by Nidauvie, wasn't an option, because he wouldn't have been able to survive alone. At the end, they simply locked him in his room. They even had a system to leave food and clothes for the boy without ever being in the same area with him.
For several years, Ameriev was completely isolated. Then, a young woman came looking for a very specific answer.

The kid knew it as soon as he saw me. Of course, he knew another 206 ways I could die, but there was a chance, a very small chance, of me getting... a happy ending. He didn't know how to get there, not a first, but at the end... I though it was simple. I only wanted my heart back, so I never though of the consequences. Neither did he, but he was a kid. I think I tricked him, as much as he thinks he used me.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Apparently, he considered that helping Sofía in her irrational efforts to trick death was an accomplishment. Even when that destroyed the balance and natural course of events, and lead to the Foreseers Hunt. He didn't seem to regret anything when he was marked as a target.
